The Silvers

The Silvers has recently emerged as a force to be reckoned with in rock music and the new single 'You Know You Had It Coming' demonstrates a determination to go even further. With an expanding repertoire of hits, The Silvers seems destined to leave an indelible mark on the global music scene.

Over the past few years fans have watched The Silvers grow from a Rock novelty to a bonafide force in the genre. With a growing list of awards and an ever-expanding fan base, The Silvers shows no sign of slowing down now. Of course the new track 'You Know You Had It Coming' has done much to accelerate this momentum. Being recently anointed as the recipient of the Akademia Music Award for Best Rock Song has only further expanded the reach of this talented artist.

ANDREW: What is the most surprising thing that has happened to you during the course of your music career?
THE SILVERS: The most surprising thing that we've found is that, because of the Covid shutdown, we were still able to rehearse our new music remotely.

ANDREW: Your song 'You Know You Had It Coming' is receiving a positive listener response on radio. What was your initial reaction when you heard your new song playing on radio?
THE SILVERS: We have actually been too busy writing new material to listen for our music on the radio. Mostly we are being exposed on Spotify playlists and other streaming sites.

ANDREW: What was the inspiration behind your radio single?
THE SILVERS: This is Mick talking and the line just came to me, and I thought it would be an interesting story to write.

ANDREW: Was there ever a time in your life when you felt creatively stifled and unable to make music?
THE SILVERS: Mick says he had a bout with bronchitis for about 2 months where he felt so bad he didn't want to think about writing new songs. Dain says he was in a slight depression after the release of our Oceans album in October 0f 2022. But things are starting to perk now!

ANDREW: How would you describe yourself in three words?
THE SILVERS: Very tight musically.

ANDREW: Do you prefer to work alone or with a team?
THE SILVERS: Mick says, once he gets an idea he likes to collaborate with original Silver Tom Kelley, and Mick and Dain are now starting to collaborate more.

ANDREW: Did you come from a musical background? Are there other musicians in your family?
THE SILVERS: Mick asked his dad once if he ever played an instrument. He said no, but he listened a lot! He used to work on his accounting in the basement while playing jazz records endlessly while he worked.

ANDREW: What do you find most rewarding about being an artist? What do you find most challenging?
THE SILVERS: We love the feedback we get from all the music sites from people who love to stream our songs. But with Mick in Arizona and Dain and Carl in California, it's not possible right now to play live which is challenging.

ANDREW: Who would be your number one inspiration and role model in music?
THE SILVERS: Mick says the Beatles were a big influence growing up and starting in a band. Dain is a big fan of Crowded House. And Carl loves all sorts of music and plays frequently with casual bands.

ANDREW: Describe your funniest performance where things didn't quite go as planned.
THE SILVERS: We started a song that was in 4-4 time and Carl started it in swing. We got about half way through the song until we switched back to the correct tempo! Of course, nobody in the audience knew why we were all laughing!

ANDREW: What advice would you give to young, aspiring artists out there who are unsure and need guidance?
THE SILVERS: Just play, play, play. Learn your instrument and if you are into writing music, don't give up!

ANDREW: What's next for you as an artist? Is there an album in the works? If so, what can you tell us about it?
THE SILVERS: Yes, The Silvers are working on our next album right now. We have about 5-6 songs in the works as well as a new original Christmas song for 2023!

ANDREW: Interesting! It's been great speaking with you! Thank you for your candid answers and I can't wait to hear what’s next in your music career.
