Known as a reggae artist with an enigmatic side, Pepaseed's new single ‘Ackee & Saltfish’ has exploded on radio and put this reggae artist on the world map.
BLAKE: As an artist on the rise, what is one thing you are most excited about and one thing you are most afraid of happening in your career?
PEPASEED: One thing I am most excited about is enjoying success and my fans seeing me in a different light next to performing. And one thing I am most afraid of happening in my career is me being as an artist, my art being unappreciated for what it is.
BLAKE: Your song’Ackee & Saltfish’ is receiving a positive listener response on radio. What was your initial reaction when you first heard your song playing on radio?
PEPASEED: Jah!...and my song to be played everywhere over and over again that is nice.
BLAKE: What was the inspiration behind your debut radio single?
PEPASEED: Well, at the time I felt like hopeful of love and love is just a distant thing where throughout I watched the news so in that feeling, I just went and picked up the mic and found an old time Riddi(I)um/Instrumental that I always wanted sing a song on and just let it flow or let it go till I felt love again. And so did so saw therefore cannot believe, bad mind new strong this year. Can't believe love conquers all and you done know Rastafari a di roots rock reality and culture and there you have it.
BLAKE: It is often said that great art arises from difficult experience. Is there something in your life experience thus far that you would describe as the ‘catalyst’ or ‘fuel’ for your desire to create music?
PEPASEED: Life is generally hard upon everyone. I have went through so many things. I rather just put it in my songs to vibe and express my feelings upon the subject matter for it is too much to tell an experience or my experience in such a short interview. So relatively I live life simple. Love, peace and harmony and unity, no ugliness, is all that be my catalyst for my inspiration of music.
BLAKE: How would you characterize yourself as an artist/musician? (Ex. Down-to-earth, serious, fun-loving, complicated…)
PEPASEED: I would say all those things describe me perfect for I do not see myself as just an artist.

BLAKE: What has your experience been like working with the other people on your team?
PEPASEED: It is ok.
BLAKE: Did you come from a musical background? Are there other musicians in your family?
PEPASEED: Only my father was musically talented but all my family love music. They listen to every kind every genre of music.
BLAKE: What do you find most rewarding about being an artist? What do you find most challenging?
PEPASEED: Most rewarding is fans and fans response which are positive in nature. What is most challenging is never forget your roots reality and culture which in what is to say my nature to never forget where I am coming from so I always know where I go you see.
BLAKE: Who are your role models in music?
PEPASEED: Well Art Farmer, Jazz a Musician, Ken Booth, Yellow Man, Tiger, Shabba Ranks, Shaggy, my father, and many more modern artists such as Bounty Killa, Beanie Man, Elephant Man, Sizzla, Vybez Kartel, Movado, Kiprich, Jay Z, Lox, Capleton, Avril Lavine, Katy Perry sounds, Lt. Stitchie, Stalence and so on and so on. My list is too many to tell given my vibes.
BLAKE: Describe your best or most memorable performance.
PEPASEED: I would say Muse Fest.
BLAKE: What advice would you give to young, aspiring artists out there who are unsure and need guidance?
PEPASEED: I would say, never give up your dream for a nightmare.
BLAKE: What's next for you as an artist? Is there a new single in the works? If so, what can you tell us about it?
PEPASEED: What's next for me right now is an album or the album Artiste Farmer to release sometime this year. I am working on is an experience to say the least.
