LILY: When did you first get that feeling that your music career was gaining momentum?
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: A sign of progression began; as I recall, with the private messages I would receive from online visitors stating how they enjoyed listening to my style of music, ofcourse there were those who offered their critiques, however, the positive feed back far outwieghed the negative reception.
LILY: Your song ’Lunch’ is receiving a positive listener response on radio. What was your initial reaction when you first heard your song playing on radio?
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: I feel a great since of Gratitude. Connecting being relatable, resonating with listeners is priceless.
LILY: What was the inspiration behind your radio single?
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: Well, in all honosty, I had a very candid reflective moment in thought-one of the times when I wrote the song it just flowed with ease as I wrote the lyrics to the music. even though I could personally relate to the lyrics and narrative of the song, I can not take full credit, I know the idea was-in most part, inspired by my muse. it flowed to easily.
LILY: It is often said that great art arises from difficult experience. Is there something in your life experience thus far that you would describe as the ‘catalyst’ or ‘fuel’ for your desire to create music?
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: There were many experiences that influenced the way in which I write and produce music, aside from that as well; how I am able to embody & project myself through a character on screen as an actor as well in the myriad of short films and SAG-AFTRA feature series i've been involved with. In regard to all artforms; when an artist wants to be relatable to listeners or and their audience-they must project honesty and transparency. what I aim to express is authenticity.
LILY: How would you characterize yourself as an artist/musician?
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: if I could sum it up in one word it would be ''Authentic''

LILY: What has your experience been like working with the other people on your team?
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: Before winning an Award for Best r&b/soul song via #THEAKADEMIA, It was all on me as a producer, songwriter, compose,r audio recording vocal engineer-mixer tht included having to be my own PR agent,branding digital art logo designer-apart from self financingmy ambition to attain a distibution association partnership with international music distribution companies which include Famousrecords LLC and a myriad of online music distributors, not to mention marketing myself for many years as my own personal agent.However I will and must admit, at this juncture I have a lot to thank THEAKADEMIA for, they are really putting in the work to insure my success, making expansion & connecting with listeners and fans of music from all over the world a hell of alot easier and organized. LILY: Did you come from a musical background? Are there other musicians in your family?
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: I don't come from a line of know greats or celebrity ''as far as I know of, I could be a few that actually succeeded in another life time'' like most family's there are and were in most cases a few great singer's and peformers who had a great potential to become great if they had the opportunity.
LILY: What do you find most rewarding about being an artist? What do you find most challenging?
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: What is most rewarding for me, Is being me, being free and exercising my constitutional amendment right to express my self as who I am, it is very important to channel our emotions through positve outlets, this is one of the very few freedoms we have that can cure us of many ailments in a wacky world. What's most challenging is having so many obsticles, stresser's, hater's and political idealists in society that stands in the way of what we are all entitled to in this life to have ...A piece of mind and a right to create opportunities for oursleves and family's, being true to who we are.
LILY: Who are your role models in music?
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: I can not say that I look up to entertainers as role models, but understanding what we have to endure and the challenges we have to over come internal & external to be great, and have the world recognize us for our contribution to society and the world at large; I admire and take my hat off to many. Growing up I admired and resonated with the like of;In music: It varies in Genre's, from r&b--4TOPS,CHILITES,EARTH WIND AND FIRE,MARVIN GAY,LUTHER,PRINCE,R-KELLY..LIST GOES ON--MOTOWN AREA, HIPHOP--RUN DMC,LL COOL J,DMX,ERICK B & RAKIM,DOUG E FRESH,BIZ MARKY,SLICK RICK,HEAVY D,BIG DADDY KANE,ROXANNA ROXANNE,TUPAC,50 CENT,BIGGIE,M&M-In pop--MICHAEL JACKSON,JAMES BROWN,JANET JACKSON,MADONNA,TINA TURNER ETC. Country/rock: KISS,PHIL COLLINS,WILLY NELSON,KENNY ROGERS STING,DAVID BOWIE ETC.
LILY: Describe your best or most memorable performance.
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: I performed many schools,fashion shows,indoor outdoor events,funerals, even opened for the likes of Toney Terry, Summer fests etc. in the 4 and 5memebr group by the name of BI' Chanz I was apart of during the ladder 90's and early 2000's, as a solo artist performer I performed in clubs, artist showcases,fashion shows, even an apollo competition that was held annually in K-Town Germany in 1998 when I began stepping out as a solo artist. out of all the performance experiences I had I must acknowledge An elementary school by the name of ''Merry Oaks Internation Elematary Academy'' around the time of 2004 or 05 I believe, where I performed cover tunes like Neo's ''Sick of Love Songs'' including some original material...I never felt so much love in one place ever, and I was given a special gift and musical CD...the kids there at that time gave me a very special and rememberable time with a myriad of very intelligent questions asked during my on stage performance..lol...I'll never for get it.
LILY: What advice would you give to young, aspiring artists out there who are unsure and need guidance?
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: Trust lifes process, trust in yourself, trust that our challenges and the obsticles are equiping them with the tools needed to be their own greatness and hero, and embrace opportunities big and small as it molds us all into an opportunity to many looking for a light and teacher for generations to come.
LILY: What's next for you as an artist? Is there an album in the works? If so, what can you tell us about it?
MICHAEL NOVE'LLL: what's next for me is as always; embracing opportunities to grow as a person and as a professional where ever I find my skills talents wisdom and experience most effective in society. As for my follow up album 'name isn't made public as of yet due to protecting an original concept; 'Expect Originality, Innovative out of the box musical production passionate expressiveness and songs written from a place of logic-feelings & wisdom; I strive to stay as vocally authentic to my natural voice in this ever growing ''passionate-less'' vocally dishonest industry & for my growing fan base'' the album incorporates a Variety of narratives & lyrical ideas very few artist if ''any'' artist has yet to incorporate into their albums;perhaps because many fear offending other's or being ridiculed harshly. My intent is never to personally offend,yet to be authentic to who I am.
